A Riffling Hitch is used to add action to a skating fly. Connect the fly to the leader using a Turle Knot. After the fly is attached to the leader, add a half hitch and slip it over the eye of the hook with the leader going to the bankside of the river your on.

Seat the half-hitch over the eye and pull tight. The leader will now be pulling from the side.
